Reading is an essential skill for all pupils, irrespective of age. Therefore, each evening, pupils are sent home with a reading book, appropriate to their individual ability. Pupils are expected to read each evening, for 10-15 minutes, and record their reading in their Reading Record, collected by teachers weekly. Over the weekend, pupils will receive a library book of their choice, to enjoy reading with their families.

In Reception and Year 1, pupils are sent home with weekly phonics homework linked to Little Wandle. Parents are supported with the pronunciation of sounds through YouTube videos, sent out weekly, in line with the intended learning.

Each half term, pupils will receive a Home Learning Passport. Each year groups Home Learning Passport is unique to their half-term learning and comprises three tasks to develop learning further. Pupils are expected to complete at least one home-learning task over half-term and share this with their class.

At Livingstone Academy Bournemouth, in the Primary phase, we have also utilised online platforms in order to deliver home learning which is bespoke to the needs of each learner. These platforms are:

  • Numbots
  • TTRockstars

Pupils will be provided with logins for these platforms. There are useful online methods for parents to engage in the process.
